Dear Food Allergies,
That’s it! I’ve had enough of you!
We’ve been dealing with you for years now. I’ve been able to convince myself that you are just a bump in our road. That you have made us stronger and eat healthier. I’ve learned to live with you because we have no choice. But enough is enough!
You sit there all nice and quiet and wait for the perfect opportunity to pounce. You take people’s lives, you choose new victims, you constantly make people sick. I am done. D-O-N-E!
When I heard, recently, that you decided to introduce yourself to a new member of my family it affected me in a way I didn’t expect. You caused all the hurt, resentment, pity, and anger to bubble up to the surface once again. That is one of the things about you that I hate. The emotional distress that you cause myself and my family tears me apart. The horrible part is that all of these horrible feelings are what people, that don’t know you, just don’t understand and that makes it even more difficult.
I have learned to accept our life with you in the best way I know how. However, to know that members of my family will now be on a first name basis with you too…THAT crosses the line! YOU caused that poor baby distress, an ambulance ride, an emergency room visit… I also know first-hand what you caused his parents! It sickens me to know that people I love will now “get it” because of you, because of what you did to their precious child.
Thousands of people already know you. But that isn’t enough for you. Is it? You want more. When are we going to finally get rid of you? What do we have to do? Because I’ll do it. Really, I will and I know I’m not the only one.
I know that there are many more out there that will stop at nothing to eliminate you. Every day we do our best to educate others about how to prevent you from taking our children. We work together and put in hours of our time to help people avoid you. Every time you claim a person, know that we have educated many more. It may be a slow process but we will not give up.
There will be a day when you are defeated. I promise.
Determined and patient,
Elizabeth DiBurro

Amen! I am joining your DONE gang. Enough already. I absolutely HATE hearing about babies being manhandled by food allergies. I can't even imagine the terror felt by the parents. This is not okay.
Is there a membership card for the DONE crew!
The blessing here is you Elizabeth. You will be the guiding star during this new journey for your family.
