I have a new addiction, Pinterest. I love getting new ideas for life from it. I try new recipes, new games, paint color, furniture arrangement, and educational printouts for the kids, etc. You name it, Pinterest has it. As I slowly attempt to do some of the things that it offers, I’m finding that not all of them are what they seem. Sure, it may be an awesome picture, but that’s about it.
Take for example, the dried strawberries. Oh the picture they show on Pinterest makes these suckers look absolutely amazing. They look plump and red and delicious. Of course I pinned it and just HAD to attempt my own.
I followed the directions, washed, dried, sliced, baked in oven at 140 degrees forever…I mean for approx 4 hours. This is what I got…

They don’t look too bad, right? Well let me tell you….BLAH, UGH, and YUCK!!! They tasted horrible!!! It gives me shivers just thinking about it. They were bitter, sour and nasty. LOL I will attempt to make them again during strawberry season. Maybe with fresh, sweet, in season, strawberries there will be a different outcome.

I am guessing doing them in season will make a HUGE difference. Strawberries are one of the few things I absolutely won't even buy year round. I just find them tasteless and horrendous any other time of the year. (Same with fresh tomatoes)
That said, I am definitely going to try this in the summer! I love pinterest!

I agree Jacqui, I will be trying this again in season. Hopefully it makes a difference. I really want it to work.
