Winter 2011 |
It’s crazy to think that this time last year we were hip deep in snow! We had so much snow that I carved seats into the snow banks around our fire pit. I even made cup holders and put towels on the seats so we didn’t freeze our butts off. We all put on our snow suits, lit the fire and relaxed on our snow seats. It was AWESOME!!!
Now let’s fast forward to this year…weather in the 80’s and spending the day at the beach. CRAZY! We took a day trip to Odiorne Point State Park in Rye, NH. It has some great history of early settlers in 1600’s. It was also purchased by the government in 1942 and used during World War II as a defense to protect Portsmouth Harbor and it’s naval shipyard.
The views are outstanding! The sun was shining bright with a light ocean breeze. There’s something about the salty smell of the ocean that is so relaxing!
The perfect spot to throw some educational history into our day. We talked about the early settlers that spent their lives here. We also discussed the soldiers that camped out in the underground bunkers that are still there.
This guy had the right idea. He was laying in his hammock with his laptop, eating a snack and enjoying the view. I HAD to sneak a picture of him. My husband and I agreed, we MUST do this at some point soon.
Education, Exercise, Sun, Ocean = Happy Family
