I can’t help but think that this also applies to children with food allergies. There comes a time when our helping makes it more difficult for them to be responsible for themselves (at an appropriate age and/or maturity). They need to know how to read a label, to say no to foods, and to remember to carry their own epinephrine. They can’t learn if we always do it for them.
